Overview of changes in this version

  • Curator Server HotFix version 4.0.1.151 replaces the previously released version 4.0.1.131.

     Curator Server HotFix 4.0.1.151  (Jan 2022) :

    • closes exposure to log4j vulnerability cve-2021-44228 in Solr index, as to not require manual mitigation anymore.

    • fixes a bug introduced in Curator Server 4.0 where deletion (not the sending to Trash) of a folder containing a scratchpad left assets copies from the scratchpad to be left behind, apparent in the execution of the SendTo plugin.

    • introduces into the upgrade from systems using Curator Server 3.6 or older an automatic execution of the stored procedure RebuildAssetRelationships, previously in instruction for deploying Curator Server 3.5. Its execution is necessary at least once before running Curator Server 4.0, there is no harm in running it more than once. As it is time-consuming the upgrade step for database version 2.7 to 3.0 is now marked as manual and should be executed as follows:

      1. Ensure that curatordb has been backed up. If there is no backup, then manually create one before upgrading Curator Server.
      2. In Workbench - close the Database Connection (if already open)
      3. Under the Home tab, go to the edit menu > preferences and access the SQL Editor on the left.
      4. Increase the timeout. To do this, under MySQL Session on the right, update the 3x (in seconds) values dramatically, by a factor of 10 or even 100 (at least temporarily).
      5. On the right scroll down and under Other UNTICK Safe Updates
      6. Click OK for these settings to take effect.
      7. Open the Database Connection.
      8. Double click and expand the Curator Server Database on the left.
      9. From the File menu in the database tab select Run SQL Script and select the Sql\Upgrade\UpgradeV2-7ToV3-0[manual].sql script provided in Curator Server installation path, ensure the correct database is selected and press Run.

  • During the upgrade of Curator Server from version 3.6 or older, it is necessary to back up and then delete the Solr Core located in [installation path]\Curator\Server\Solr\server\solr\curator_2_4 and let the starting service regenerate it.

  • Curator Gateway 1.5 has an additional prerequisite. Prior to installation or upgrade, you must ensure .Net core 3.1.6 (or later) and .Net Core 5.0.12 (or later) are installed on the server on which Curator Gateway is running. These can both be found at this link. From this page, click on the links to .NET 5.0 and .NET 3.1. From each of the linked pages, click the ASP.NET Core Runtime Hosting Bundle link to install.

  • Upgrade of XCode to version 4.0 necessitates updating Curator for Adobe to version 3.1 (to use import functionality) and Curator Media Agent to version 1.1.1.7 (for thumbnail generation).

  • Device Director 5.17.1.39 requires pairing with Xfer 2.13.1.13 for improved access to S3 buckets.

  • On installation of version 3.3.1, you must deploy or update Curator Connect to version 1.6 and Curator for Adobe to version 3.1 respectively to users' machines to take advantage of the now default method of authentication via opening a browser page (Authentication Code). If an upgrade of Curator Connect and/or Curator for Adobe is not possible at this time then client authentication grant types should be manually changed from Authentication Code to Implicit for the respective application. To do this, go to Curator Gateway>Authentication>Clients and update Curator Connect and/or all Curator for Adobe clients, with the exception of Curator for Adobe Importer/Exporter. Please check to ensure this has been changed on upgrade, updating these manually if necessary.

  • For first installations of 3.3 and 3.3.1
If you intend to deploy a new system where XChange needs to monitor local volume rather than expected shared volumes, please talk to IPV support to obtain a workflow patch (WD-2955).

  • For upgrade to 3.3 and 3.3.1
Inspect the ingest MediaStore XCHANGEMANAGER-INGEST-TO-CURATOR and any other equivalent XCHANGE mediastores for settings in the Device and Volume fields. If there are values, these would refer to:
    • a local folder - Please talk to IPV support for a specific workflow patch (WD-2955)
    • a shared volume - Please make sure that the Path setting is correct and remove the settings for Device and Volume. Once System Setup V2 has been completed, new Device and Volume settings will automatically be created within the XChange to match the Path. Following that, cancel the XChange - Import Files - Spawn by type - XCHANGEMANAGER-INGEST-TO-CURATOR process. Once it starts automatically again, XChange will be ready to process files (a new Device and Volume, if these are different from the existing ones, will have been created).
