Create Folder Share for 3.3

Updated on December 9th, 2022

Curator needs access to a storage share.  Typically the Curator Folder Share is saved on a NAS or File Server device that can present a share called "Curator".

The Curator Folder Share is where the First Time Setup Process will create all of the resources needed by the Core Processes that are included out of the box.

These resources include settings such as:

  • Transcode and Conform Profiles
  • Metadata translation files

The First Time Setup Process will create a watchfolder called "Ingest to Curator" which is a singular import area for all files, anything that needs to be ingested into the system can be dropped here.

All of the Curator Services need write access to the Curator Storage Share so the IPV Service Account needs to be able to read and write into it.

Some examples:

  • The transcoders will need to read the High-Resolution files in the watchfolders.
  • The transcoders will need to write the Low-Resolutions files into the Proxies folder
  • The conform engines will need to read the EPR profiles and Premiere Project files from the storage.
  • The transfer services will need to read and write data from and to the storage.

The Curator Folder Share may have already been set up in which case, move onto the next task.
