Overview of changes in this version
Hotfix releases fixing specific issues found in Curator 3.4
October 2022
Curator Server 4.0.1.185 replaces version 4.0.1.177. This version fixes timeout problems within large Curator databases while changing names, permissions and moving folders as well as cloning workgroups (as this updates folder permissions)
July 2022IPV Curator For Adobe 3.2.1.11 (Win) \ 3.2.14 (Mac) replaces version 3.2.1.9 (Mac 3.2.13). This version fixes importer/exporter to avoid AME failure in some cases.
XFer Agent 2.13.1.24 replaces version 2.13.1.18 and fixes Xfer Mud to reliably fail jobs where the Partial File Restore is unsuccessful and an issue with re-wrapping XCode 4.0 fragmented MP4.
Curator File Service 1.1.1.34 replaces version 1.0.1.100 to allow metadata synchronization when files are moved by the Curator system e.g. to final storage or an archive.
Process Engine 2.17.1.43 replaces version 2.17.1.30 fixing memory management (memory leak noticeable in very busy systems) and file open/close for write.
It also fixes workflows with Thumbnail generation to be true to the values of ThumbnailFormat in the THUMBNAIL MediaStore and changes the default behavior of the ingest not to trigger sub-clip making for Closed Captions unless IngestCaptionFile is set to True in PROXY-HLS-V3 and PROXY-AME-V3 MediaStores.
June 2022
Curator Server 4.0.1.177 replaces version 4.0.1.151 and dramatically speeds up folder creation to fix it within for large databases and speeds up searching.
May 2022
Media Agent 1.1.1.9 replaces version 1.1.1.7 and fixes striding in some thumbnail generation.
April 2022Device Director 5.18.1.68 replaces version 5.18.1.61 and fixes two issues in SoDA and AME devices:
Device Director is now tolerant of new Storage Class settings in SoDA S3 Storages, which were previously unable to be parsed and caused SoDA jobs to fail.
Device Director is also now more tolerant of the AME "NotFound" state - Rather than assuming it is automatically a failure we now assumes that it's a transitionary state and waits for a better state we understand (DD-1028).
Xfer Agent v2.13.1.18.msi - replaces version 2.13.1.17 and updates MUDD to v2.10.1.22 in order to fix one issue:
Partial File Restore where MUDD was not closing/completing file footer correctly
IPV Curator For Adobe(CC 2020 & 2021)_2.5.1.35(Mac 2.5.20).zip for Curator 3.2.1 "Arrival" (but released during the Curator 3.4 Hot-Fix phase) - replaces IPV Curator For Adobe 2.5.1.31 (Win) \ 2.5.18 (Mac) and fixes one issue:
A fix for Live Markers - Error During Negotiation Request
March 2022
Curator Gateway 1.5.1.156 replaces version 1.5.1.151. This fixes one issue when using external identity providers:
CPU resource drain when the connection to the external identity provider is not available.
Analytics Service 1.2.1.2, an update that replaces version 1.1.1.7. This release can be deployed with the use of Neo4j 4.4 (can continue using 3.4/3.5 version) and addresses resource issues within high-input systems:
Analytics service not releasing connections/threads.
Analytics service using too much memory.
Device Director 5.18.1.61 replaces version 5.18.1.59 and fixes one issue when using the File Catalyst device:
Problem tracking multiple concurrent File Catalyst jobs
Curator Clip Select 2.13.1.29 (Mar 2022) replaces the previously released version 2.13.1.21 and fixes issues with:
Drag and drop assets to folder exposed by Show More
Loading of Clip Select where TLS 1.1 is disabled
Several issues preventing saving changes in certain circumstances:
Inability to create subclips in media from search results
Inability to save subclips to Collection
Inability to change static metadata (e.g. Description)
Permanent throbber when saving metadata valuesIncludes an updated optional Metadata Central 2.0.4 service which supplies context-dependent data values to Curator services, including large data sets, and is a requirement for Sports Logging. This version has a simplified installation process following the familiar Curator services route. Manual configuration after the installation is needed for the sources of the ETL service.
- Curator 3.4 disables deprecated TLS 1.1 protocol through the Curator Gateway 1.5.1.151.
If necessary, it is possible to enable it manually, but this should be avoided for security reasons.
-
⚠️When updating from before Curator 3.3.1 (Curator Server 3.6 or earlier) you must delete the Solr Core and let the Curator Server recreate it during startup.
-
Process Engine 2.17.1.30 includes important architectural changes that will considerably increase processing speed (at least twice as fast on average, more in some circumstances).
This release provides the ability to export and restore MediaStores, and various improvements in Error logging. Further changes are fixes to Update Solr Core activity so that UTF8 characters are properly represented, to RED Camera ingest, to AWS activities so that these will demand region.
Note: In extremely overloaded systems this may bring about the risk of occasional failures in database updates and as a result even occasional failed workflows. If failures should occur in a system, it would be necessary to reduce maximum concurrent workload by reducing the maximum number of simultaneous workflows run via the Process Engine Monitor website e.g. the MaxIngestProcesses number configured within the XCHANGEMANAGER-INGEST-TO-CURATOR MediaStore for watch folder ingest.
- Curator Logger 2.3.1.55, replacing 2.3.1.49, as before requires the use of Curator Server 4.0.1.151 or later.
This is in order to support the new formatting/layout of GUI controls both in the default metadata display and within the View-specific display.
-
Device Director 5.18.1.61, replacing 5.18.1.59 as before requires pairing with XFer 2.13.1.17, both parts of Curator 3.4 release.
The release of these products is aimed at improving accessibility to AWS S3, including a cost-saving improvement of direct copy between buckets within an instance; adding support for AWS S3 VPC interface endpoints and use of AWS Secrets Manager. As of this version, you no longer need to specify an AWS Secret and Access key within AWS S3 profiles. When running within an AWS instance, the AWS Secrets Manager should provide these values internally. AWS library files have also been brought in line with Xfer.
- Curator Clip Link 3.2.1.63 removes the dependence on the image essence stored in the Curator database, on-disk proxy is displayed instead. It requires a minimum version of Curator Gateway 1.3.1.67 but should be paired with the latest version of Curator Gateway 1.5.1.151 that forms part of the same Curator 3.4 release.
- Curator for Adobe 3.2 removes the dependence on the image essence stored in the Curator database, on-disk proxy is displayed for preview and used for proxy import.
It requires the use of Curator Server 4.0.1.151, Curator Gateway 1.5.1.151, Curator File Service 1.0.1.100 and the Edit & Publish Module v1.7.0.3 or newer (please use the newest software and module available as a part of the Curator 3.4 release).
Note on Hot Fix: Curator File Service 1.1.1.34 is needed for file paths synchronization so that files can be moved within Curator after original ingest and is recommended for use with Curator for Adobe 3.2.
Note: This version of Curator for Adobe is compatible with Adobe Creative Cloud 2021 and 2022.
Due to Adobe Creative Cloud API changes between versions 2020 and 2021, this version requires all of the Adobe CC software, including remote Media Encoder (AME), to be version 2021 or newer and that Curator For Adobe at both ends of the export process (Curator for Adobe panel and IPV AME Extension) be updated to a version compatible with Adobe CC 2021 e.g. Curator for Adobe 3.2.1.1 (Windows)/ 3.2.2 (Mac).
Note on Adobe Illustrator: Please do not attempt to use Adobe Illustrator versions 25.4 and 25.4.1 with this software, due to a problem with these versions' API. Please use Adobe Illustrator versions 25.3.1 or earlier from CC 2021, or version 26.0 or later.
- With Curator 3.4 versions of Curator for Adobe 3.2.1.1 (Win)/3.2.2 (Mac) and Clip Link 3.2.1.63 and where Clip Select is not in use, it is possible to reduce the size of the curatordb by setting image Essence to Null, a helper script for this purpose is present in "Additional items for Partners" part of the download for Curator 3.4 software. To carry this out, as a precaution it is advised you backup your database beforehand. Once a backup has been taken, find the helper script within the install package "INSTALL LOCATION\Curator Arrival 3.4\Additional items for Partners" run the script within MySql Workbench. For more information on this, please refer to the How to perform Essence removal from the database article.
- For those running Curator for Adobe version 3.2 or later, the way hi-res images are imported in the Curator for Adobe Panel has changed to get hi-res from Curator File Service. For more information on this, please refer to the Importing hi res images in Curator for Adobe article.
