Symptom

When installing or upgrading AME CC, it is possible that Windows may not have the correct Windows Server components installed to be able to process .mov/.mp4 files. If this is the case, upon loading the AME application, the following pop-up will appear:

"Your Windows operating system install is missing components needed to import common file types such as .mov and .mp4. Try installing the Microsoft Media Feature Pack and restart".

Resolution

In order to resolve this issue, it is necessary to configure the Media Foundation feature in Windows. This can be achieved by loading Server Manager, selecting Add roles and features, then selecting Next until you get to the Features section.

Select Media Foundation and then click Install. Following installation, it is fundamental that the AME server is restarted for the changes to take effect.
